What is the brand philosophy?

Women often have a love-hate relationship with high heel shoes. Women love high heels because they make women feel sexy, fashionable, and empowered. However, high heels are also a source of misery for women to wear because they make walking difficult, and prolonged use can lead to various foot, knee and back problems. Catwalk Confidence is a way for women to reconcile their love-hate relationship with high heels by giving them a healthy way to better accommodate wearing high heel shoes through a fitness routine created by someone who is both a doctor of podiatric medicine and a fitness expert.

What is Catwalk Confidence?

Catwalk Confidence is a fitness DVD collection designed by Emily Splichal, aka “Dr. Legs,” who is a graduate of podiatric medical school, a former competitive gymnast, and a certified exercise specialist in NYC. The fitness routine is designed to help women gain strength, flexibility, comfort and confidence when they wear high heel shoes.

Why are the movements in Catwalk Confidence important?

As recognized by the Mayo Clinic and other medical authorities, high heels are one of the biggest factors leading to foot, knee and back problems in women. Foot problems stemming from high heel shoes include corns, calluses, hammertoe, bunions, tight heel cords, osteoarthritis, neuromas (a growth of nerve tissue), and the tightening and shortening of the achilles tendon. Because of these problems associated with wearing high heels, it is important for women to strengthen and realign the muscles that are commonly overworked trying to maintain proper posture in heels.

What type of exercises are utilized in Catwalk Confidence?

Balance and stabilization exercises are the unique approach of Catwalk Confidence: The Workout.  The workout is designed to challenge women’s static and dynamic balance necessary to increase postural stabilization when wearing high heels.  Special focus is on pelvic alignment and core control throughout the entire workout, teaching women how to maintain proper posture when they slip on their high heels. 
Pilates, yoga, and active-isolated stretches
which target overworked hip flexors, low back muscles and foot and ankle stabilizers are utilized in Catwalk Confidence:Stiletto Recovery.


What materials will I need for the workout?
